The History of the Baby Lock Overlocker

The Baby Lock legacy started over 50 years ago. In 1964, a group of engineers and middle managers at a Japanese industrial sewing company presented a concept for a redesigned industrial overlocker. They wanted to create a smaller, lighter model for use in the home.

This was the birth of a small machine that could produce an overlock stitch — a “baby lock”.

Over the years, Baby Lock has continued to revolutionise overlockers.

Today Baby Lock has 14 patents to its name. Modern Baby Lock overlockers have numerous innovative features making them easy to use for all sorts of projects.

ExtraordinAir™ and Jet-Air Threading™, for instance, let you thread your loopers with the push of a button. And thanks to the patented Automatic Thread Delivery™ system, no tension knobs are needed. A balanced stitch is delivered on any fabric with any type of thread.

Impressive features aren’t the only things you’ll get with Baby Lock. With unsurpassed features and support, there truly is no substitute for a Baby Lock overlocker.
